Spring Ahead! 2022 Receipts Up Big Over 2021
It’s warming up…both the weather as Spring is now upon us, as well as box office receipts.

March 2022 cumulative box office receipts as of March 28 ($555,706,488) rose nearly 5x than those of March 2021 ($113,597,962), with four days still remaining in the month. And March 2022 has so far more than doubled March 2020’s receipts ($253,334,028).

Cumulative box office receipts in February 2022 outpaced the same month in 2021 more than six fold, up from $57,746,920 to $365,506,111 this year.

Uncharted has continued its strong pace since its Feb. 18 opening with $84,618,436 receipts in February, and, as of March 28, has banked a domestic total of $133,551,000. Jackass Forever, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Death on the Nile, and Dog rounded out the Top 5 (respectively) for February.

In less than a month since its March 4 opening, The Batman has led the month with a take of $331,951,000 domestically and $672,851,000 worldwide. Uncharted, The Lost City, Dog, and Spider-Man: No Way Home rounded out the Top 5 (respectively) for March.

And, as of March 28, Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed nearly $1.9B USD worldwide!

What’s in store for April?
The most anticipated April 2022 movie releases include Morbius, Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and The Bad Guys.

Are we back to pre-pandemic levels yet? No. But we are trending higher, and that is as welcome as warmer temperatures and longer days.
